Notice to our Users - We've Resumed Publishing

We are pleased to announce that the National Guideline Clearinghouse and the National Quality Measures Clearinghouse have completed the transition to a new content management system. We have resumed publishing new/updated content. As noted previously, this new system will serve as the foundation for the redesigned Web sites to be launched next year. Conference News

The 6th annual Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) conference, will be held November 1-4, 2009 in Lisbon, Portugal. Register online now. G-I-N conferences aim to bring together many colleagues from all over the world to develop collaborations with people from a wide range of organizations, through workshops, discussion, networking and informal sessions. Recent U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Advisories

October 24, 2009: Peramivir IV: FDA notified healthcare professionals that, in response to a request from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it has issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the investigational antiviral drug peramivir intravenous in certain adult and pediatric patients with confirmed or suspected 2009 H1N1 influenza infection who are admitted to a hospital.
October 23, 2009: Rituxan (rituximab): Information to date suggests that patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who receive Rituxan have an increased risk of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML). Physicians should consider PML in any patient being treated with Rituxan who presents with new onset neurologic manifestations. Consultation with a neurologist, brain MRI, and lumbar puncture should be considered as clinically indicated.
October 16, 2009: Dexferrum (iron dextran injection): American Regent and FDA notified healthcare professionals that anaphylactic-type reactions, including fatalities, have followed the parenteral administration of iron dextran injection. The Boxed Warning has been modified to recommend administering a test dose prior to the first therapeutic dose and observing for signs or symptoms of anaphylactic-type reactions.
